2014 Wildcat Summer Sports Clinics

During the summer of 2014 the Wilmington High School Athletic Department will be sponsoring a series of sports clinics for children in Grades 1-8. The clinics will be held at Wilmington Middle School (WMS). All clinics will be run by WHS Coaches, Alumni and Athletes. The cost of each clinic is $175 per child for the child's first clinic and $150 for each

additional clinic for that child.

All clinics, with the exception of Girls Basketball and Flag Football, will run 8:30-2:30 Monday through Thursday and 8:30-12:30 on Friday. Girls Basketball and Flag Football will run 8:00-3:00 Monday 6/30 through Thursday 7/3. The focus of each clinic is the development of skills through activity based drills and scrimmages. The ultimate goal of the clinics is to develop children who enjoy participating in athletics.

School Cancellation/Delayed Openings

Now that winter is here, we wanted to make sure you have the procedures for the calling of no school or delayed openings due to inclement weather. Mrs. Benton, Superintendent of Schools, will use the Blackboard Connect 5 communication system to notify parents about a school cancellation or a delayed opening. Please note that calls are made early in the morning. When a delayed opening is called, it is a two-hour delayed opening.  For our school, this means school begins at 10:55 a.m. and buses will start to pick-up students at 10:25 a.m., barring any unusual traffic jams.  If you are driving your child to school, the earliest time that you can drop your child off for school is 10:30 a.m., since this is the time when staff members report to morning duty.  We hope this information is helpful to you and we also hope we will not have to use it that often. Cancellations and delays are still listed on local television stations; however, the voice message from the superintendent is the most reliable source. For more detailed information about school cancellations or delays, please see our web page.

Eight Keys To A Better Me

We have begun our "Eight Keys To a Better Me" program here at the Shawsheen Elementary School. At the Shawsheen our philosophy is to not only address the academic need of our students but also to assist them in becoming good citizens. To compliment this program at school, we would like to send home the attached forms to encourage students to demonstrate these important skills. If your child displays the specific value of the month at home or in the community, we would like to acknowledge them at school. On the attached forms each month you or your child can fill out the square of the month by writing, drawing a picture or attaching a photograph telling us the action that goes along with the theme of the month. Here is a reminder of the values we will highlight over the school year and attached are the forms that students can keep and send in monthly. We look forward to your participation as we work together on building student character.
