Colder
Weather
Is
Here!
The
cold
weather
has
arrived.
As
you
know,
we
make
every
effort
to
have
outdoor
recess
daily.
We
appreciate
your
assistance
in
making
sure
your
children
come
to
school
with
clothing
appropriate
for
colder
weather
conditions.
These
include
a
warm
jacket,
hats,
and
gloves
or
mittens.
In
addition
to
recess,
students
stand
outside
in
line
during
morning
arrival
time.
Temperatures
are
colder
during
the
early
hours.
So,
students

warm
by
wearing
the
appropriate
clothing
upon
their
arrival
at

you
for
your
assistance. |

School Cancellation/Delayed Openings |
 |
|
Now that winter is fast approaching, we wanted to make sure you have the procedures for the calling of no school or delayed openings due to inclement weather. Mrs. Benton, Superintendent of Schools, will continue to use the AlertNow system to notify parents about a school cancellation or a delayed opening. Please note that calls are made early in the morning. When a delayed opening is called, it is a two-hour delayed opening. For our school, this means school begins at 10:55 a.m. and buses will start to pick-up students at 10:25 a.m., barring any unusual traffic jams. If you are driving your child to school, the earliest time that you can drop your child off for school is 10:30 a.m., since this is the time when staff members report to morning duty. We hope this information is helpful to you and we also hope we will not have to use it that often. Cancellations and delays are still listed on local television stations; however, the voice message from the superintendent is the most reliable source. For more detailed information about school cancellations or delays, please go to the district’s Web Page and click on the link entitled “School cancellation and delay information” located on the side of the front page. |
