Dear
Students and Parents/Guardians,
This
spring has arrived very quickly! We are almost to May and have so many
activities and events that will take place before Tuesday, June 12th!
Our
musical ensembles are preparing for upcoming concerts! Dress rehearsals
will come soon, and our WMS Jazz Band just performed an unbelievable show at
the recent Pops Concert. Here are the dates for Chorus, Strings and Band:
Spring Choral Concert WMS Auditorium May 1st 7PM
Vertical Band Concert WHS Gymnasium May 2nd 7PM
Vertical Strings WHS Gymnasium May 3rd
7PM
Please make sure to check our MCAS testing schedule for May on our WMS web
page. Sixth and seventh graders will be testing in Mathematics and eight
graders will have four days of testing in Mathematics and Science,
Technology & Engineering. We will need excellent attendance for all
sessions, so please try to keep any doctors’/dentists’ appointments in the
late afternoons.
Our
course selection process for the 2012-2013 school year is coming up in just
a few weeks. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at
the Middle School or you may speak to your child’s Team Leader.
We
continue to focus on our Second Step lessons developing students’ skills in
problem-solving, empathy and anger management. We have school-wide lessons
coming up on April 27th and May 4th.
May 4th
is the next early release day for Curriculum Improvement Time. Students
will be dismissed at 10:40AM on Friday, May 4th. No lunches will
be served.
Additionally, please mark your calendar for the last day of school, Tuesday,
June 12th. That Tuesday will also be an early dismissal day at
10:40AM. Please remind students that on these early release days, we expect
them to represent Wilmington Middle School proudly as they visit local
restaurants and stores at the Wilmington Plaza. We want students to display
our core value of citizenship as they travel in the community!
Thank
you for your support,
Ms. McMenimen
