Wilmington Destination Imagination is starting a new season this fall. D.I. is designed to allow kids to become experts at creative problem-solving by letting their creativity and imagination run free! Kids from K-12 can participate at four levels: Rising Stars! (k-2), Elementary (3-5), Middle (6-8) and Secondary Level (9-12). Teams of 2-7 kids complete a long-term challenge, incorporating the criteria of the challenge they select. Each challenge has a different educational focus, ranging from Structure, Science, Theater and Fine Arts, Improvisation to Community Service. The kids decide what challenge suits them the best, and create a solution to present in March to friends, family and appraisers at a local tournament. The best part of DI? It's entirely kid-driven! Teams may have no outside help on their solutions, pushing them to think creatively on their own.

The second component of Destination Imagination is the instant challenge. Teams have less than 8 minutes to solve a building, improvisation or communication problem. Teams have no prior knowledge to the challenge, and complete it at the tournament.
